I have been an artist for many years. Colour and rhythm, expressed by the unique properties of line and oil paint, are the means I use to capture aspects of my environment which I see, feel and hear. I try to remain fresh, observant, sensitive ….. hopefully never static, always responsive and changing. Originally an “easterner”, I attribute to my last 35 years on the prairies the conditions I need to sustain my art-making. Works whose subject matter is derived from music and interiors somehow find their way into abstracted landscapes. Subtle prairie tones prompt imaginary colour; flatness encourages texture. Rhythm easily seems to come from stillness. curriculum vitae |
